Spring 2008: Rookie of the Year Nominees
All three ROY nominees are from teams heading to the post-season.
VOTES ARE DUE, MONDAY, JUNE 16, AT 12:00 PM
- Chris Coger (Mega Maids) is heading to the playoffs as a significant contributor to the team with the best record in the PWL in his freshman season. He drove in 7 runs and slugged .447 for the Maids at the plate and from the mound struck out 3 with a .295 OBA. His second homer was a walk-off to win the final game of the season. He was tagged with one error, lowering his F% to .967.
- John Heibel (Free Agents) was self recruited to the PWL and quickly became a staple of the Free Agents offense. He drove in 7 runs and slugged .710, with 4 homers this spring. He kept opposing batters to a .300 average, and struck out 2. 3 errors in the field gave him a below league average .880 F%
- Charlie Zold (Rated ‘E’) came late and left early this season, but made the most of his time including winning Player of the Week honors in his rookie season. A previous contract to play Nerf football means Zold is splitting his time as a two-sport star and won’t make the playoffs. His team will miss the 17 runs he drove in, his 1.286 slugging percentage as well as the 7 dingers he hit as they try to advance to the World Series. He kept batters he faced to a .292 OBA and had 2 K’s. 2 errors in the field gave him a .929 F%.
