DCS #1 Preview (Sp12): Burn Down the Mountain

Written by - Posted 2012-06-15 00:14 in News

Spring 2012 Division Championship Series
Round 1 – Series #1

Ha’chi Mountaineers

Blandsford Barnburners
#8 (8-6)
#1 (13-1)

It’s the #1 series because it features the #1 seed, but could be the least interesting of the four matchups. Don’t expect a Shannon brother to leap over a catcher and almost put an eye out on the K board for a game winner here.

The Barnburners are the only team in this postseason who has never lost a playoff series. Three seasons, three rings…or, so they’ll tell you if you ask them. It’s unfortunate however they always go 0-14 in the Summer. Another strong regular season positions them in good shape against the last team into the playoffs. Tomko has not regained his Cy Young season stuff, and pitching is a hole for this team. Fortunately, they make up for it with offense.

Ha’chi makes their second post-season appearance after making it to the second round last season before being eliminated by the eventual World Champions. They had to win three games their final week to get their ticket punched, but survived. They have two strong pitchers but struggle to find run support. Manager Andrew Johnson was struggling to fill out his final roster, and probables still haven’t been announced.

Spring 2012: Barnburners beat Ha’chi Week 5, 4-1, W- Tomko L – S. Johnson
Franchise History: Barnburners 2-0.
