Sign-up is now open for the 2008 Spring Season.
We apologize for the late start, but we have finally given up hope on playing at our beloved Gravelly Point. We’re moving on up…to the east side.
Changes for 2008
- NEW FIELDS: We’ll be moving into DC and leaving Gravelly behind. Hopefully planes that fly off course will still go overhead before being shot down. We haven’t finalized the location, but an area on Rock Creek Parkway in NW DC is the current plan. Exact details will be announced when we are issued the permit.
- COST ($30/Player): Unfortunately we have to start charging for Wiffleball. I know, I know, this reaks of WAKA. But we’ve grown so much that the Commissioner’s ability to pay for equipment, permits, insurance, and baseball card printing has outgrown the limit of his generosity.
- START TIME: We’re starting 1/2 an hour earlier so that we can finish 1/2 hour earlier.
What does your $30 registration fee get you?
- 14 scheduled wiffleball games and an option for post-season
- Individual Player Stats for the Season
- End of Year Awards Dinner Invitation
- Voting Each Week for Player of the Week (and maybe winning a keychain)
- 6 End of Season Wiffleball Cards with your photo/stats
- Weekly Subscription to TWIF (This Week in Wiffleball) during the season
To sign-up, just send an email to Commissioner Gallaway with your name and your team name. You will receive an email from paypal for your $30 registration fee.
Score Games for FREE Wiffleball: We’re doing the stats on palm pilots this season so we have stats much faster with much less work for the PWL staff. If you are willing to serve as the scorekeeper for the two games that you’re not playing in, we’ll give you a FULL REFUND of your $30 registration fee at the end of the season. You just have to score 10 games over the course of the season. When you sign-up, let the Commissioner know you’d be willing to score. It’s easy and it’s cool.
MANAGER’S MEETING
The managers are the Board of Directors of the PWL. The Managers for every team who has at least 3 PAID PLAYERS, will have a conference call on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 9:30 PM EDT with the following agenda:
- Adoption of Schedule
- Drawing for Team Divisions
- Drawing for Schedule Spot
- Adoption of Rules Changes
- Free Agent Draft
- Election of Commissioner
