Player of the Week (Sp10): Week 7 Nominees

The last keychain of the season and final invite to the Lexus President’s Club at a Nationals game is up for grabs. A couple of automatic nominations this week with a Perfect Game (two weeks in a row by the same player no one will vote for) and a player hitting for the cycle, maybe twice.

VOTES ARE DUE BY FRIDAY AT NOON

  • Paul Costello (Brosephorous Rex): Costello tossed his second perfect game of the season, in a second consecutive week, beating the Alcoholics. Costello struck out 6 on the day with an OBA of .200. He got roughed up by the Barnburners, but none of this really matters because you’re not going to vote for him. Maybe he deserves it, maybe he doesn’t, but you don’t care. You simply just don’t like him. It’s probably because he’s better than you.
  • Nicholas DiCrosta (Scared Hitless): DiCrosta has won 3 keychains, and has been nominated 7 times. This week, his lady friend, who became only the 4th female player to bomb a home run, then did it again a few innings later, probably should have taken his place on this list. Unfortunately there is no affirmative action in the PWL. While Ms. Allison Smith certainly made a statement, and certainly is better than Nick deserves, her numbers just don’t hold up. DiCrosta hit 3 dingers, slugged 2.600 and hit .800. He drove in four runs to edge out Jim Shannon (the twin who wasn’t puking by the trees) for the final spot this week.
  • Eamon Murray (The Gnats): Murray has been touting his pitching skills all season trying to get a nomination. This week though he finally gets it for his hitting. Sure, he had some weak opponents, but you can’t argue with the numbers: AVG .625, SLG 1.375, 2 2B, 2 3B, 2HR with 5 driven in. There is a scoring dispute pending to see if he actually hit for the cycle twice in one game, or fell one double short. The homers, triples, and singles are for sure. But, the tape will be reviewed on the second double.

I think it’s cute how much Filides is hitting on Nick’s gf via the PWL website.

  6. S. Strasburg, Jun 8, 01:04 PM:

My vote for Allison counts as thirty…

  7. Bryce H., Jun 8, 01:13 PM:

I don’t know much about wiffleball, but even I am impressed by Allison’s showing. If she doesn’t even get a POTW nomination, maybe I should go back to JuCo and wait another year, instead of going to DC.

  8. AF, Jun 8, 04:06 PM:

Haha! That’s okay, Nick moved in on my girl Emily a couple of seasons ago. Definitely not interested, but thanks for hyping up a story.

  9. Nick D, Jun 8, 04:34 PM:

    Who?

No woman is safe in PWL.

  10. Lady Friend, Jun 8, 05:39 PM:

I for one prefer guys who wear shirts while playing wiffleball…

  11. AF, Jun 8, 11:35 PM:

I’m too much of an asshole for anyone. Or at least that’s what my last girl told me.

  12. AF, Jun 8, 11:42 PM:

Go to the last video Gnats vs. SH starting at 2:00. You know you wanted her.

  14. malone, Jun 9, 12:54 PM:

Eman is a bitch. Are you happy with your nomination?

  15. Eamon, Jun 11, 11:39 AM:

Come on people, only 3.5 hours of voting left for wiffleball player of the week. Don’t let Nick win, he smells bad and looks worse! Also I have a very reliable source who told me that his favorite past-times are kicking little old ladies down flights of stairs and shaving satanic symbols into the coats of puppies. Vote Eamon! Vote often! A vote for anyone else makes puppies, kittens, angels, unicorns, Obama, and John Madden cry.

This message approved by Eamon for Wiffle Player of the Week.

  16. Nick D, Jun 11, 03:30 PM:

I demand a recount! All the way to the Supreme Court.
