World Series (Sp10): Barnburners Not Scared; Not Hitless

The Blandsford Barnburners needed only two games two claim their second World Series Championship.

While not consecutive World Series wins, (the Barnburners were banned from the Summer 2009 season for recruiting violations), it is the second win in two seasons for the boys from Manassas.

They “upset” the top seeded and nationally ranked #4 team, Scared Hitless.

Both games were close, and lived up to expectations after a very competitive regular season, and two Division Championship Series that both went three games.

Once again, the NVSUA covered umpiring duties and Andrew Martin scored. Joining us in the booth was Tony Ragano of Clubber Lang who was able to announce because his team wasn’t playing today.

The Champions Dinner for the formal trophy presentation and the announcement of year-end award winners will be announced soon.

The Barnburners hold up the postseason banner as they surround the Commissioner’s Trophy after their World Series victory.

Couple of questions if you don’t mind. Why was DiCrosta taken out when he was pitching a shutout in the second game, did he get the two and out deal? I must have missed that.

Also, isn’t Colin G. normally the outfielder for the team? I’m sure Jack is just as good as Colin, but was a bit surprised by the move.

Nick was warned earlier in the game. That was his second 4 ball count with Tomko batting with 2 strikes and 1 out.
