Week 4 (Su10): Parking Problem

You have wiffleball on a nice day, rather than a hurricaine, and you have trouble parking in the lot. Close calls for a couple of teams straddling the 5 minute forfeit time, but their opponents took pity on them.

One of the two unbeaten teams got beaten…NWO drops one to powerhouse Mr. Party’s Waddle. Then loses their second to the Master Batters. That drops them to sitting in as the overall #3 seed with Scared Hitless improving to overall #2.

The first team was eliminated from a Division race today. The slumping Varmints have no chance to win the Central but are still, technically, in the running for the Wild Card.

Also, we’re still not sure who in the hell Nicholas West is, or why he’s leading the league in homers and RBI. Or why he plays for Mr. Party’s Waddle. If he stays within 6 singles of the Triple Crown after next week, we might be forced to find out.

Brian Ford had a bid for the 19th perfect game in league history (and his own 4th) through 7.5 innings, but his team just couldn’t score a run to close the deal for him. It was finally busted up by Brandon Carter. Last week, three pitchers took perfect games to the 5th inning before losing them.

Hopefully with the HD cams, it ended up catching a glimpse of that smoking hot babe near left field on the blue field during the last game. She was watching me, no joke.

I almost killed that penguin with my wiffle ball bat today. He was doing the hippity hoppity and the butt wiggle after West hit that homerun. Our team’s are 0-2 since the birth of the penguin when playing MPW.

    AF,
how come you gave Brandon a hit? it was clearly an error on O’Gravy…

Hey man, I’m really sorry, I honestly didn’t realize that you had a no hitter at that point. Basically, it was a very low ball and curving while hard to get to. At that time, I didn’t understand why Kyle was saying “NO”, I was like dude I just saved you an error. If it’s okay with the commissioner, I would be open for video review. Again, if I made a mistake, totally my fault.

That was a straight up error. It was a pop fly, granted it had a bit of english on it making it a tough catch, but one I should have had. I think I bobbled it twice before it hit the ground…

I would have felt bad about this play had the commish not played a few innings behind the plate yesterday and indisputably taken from me the mantle of “Worst Fielder in the PWL”. Feels good to have that monkey off my back!

It couldn’t be both a tough catch and a straight up error. Just because it’s one you should’ve caught doesn’t qualify it as being an error. As much as I would like to see Ford get the no-hitter, you also have to take into consideration you would be taking a hit away from the batter.

A different set of circumstances apply to wiffle ball compared to baseball when scoring hits and errors. A routine play in baseball might not be so routine in wiffle ball, with wind and the difficulty of catching it while trying to make a one handed grab.

I would like an official review on this video. I’m pretty sure our league allows people to review videos cause I know Commish has done it before…

I don’t think you can rule it a hit when Kyle had three chances to make the play.

It does say “ordinary effort”, but at the time that did not appear to be the case. I’m pretty anxious to see the replay as well.

Sorry guys, I’ve viewed that several times, I can’t really fault Kyle for not making that catch. The wind took that ball a good 7-8 feet to the left and then quickly dropped and even then he was trying to make a shoe string catch. He was not in a set position to catch the ball, in fact if you stop it, you’ll see Kyle’s hands were very low to the ground and his body bent over. You guys will have to blame the wind on that one, I can’t even fault Kyle for that one.

  13. Phord, Sep 2, 02:46 AM:

    I think it’s a hit.
