Week 5 (Su09): Glass Is Half Empty
Predictions, as they sometimes are, were immediately proven wrong this week as forfeits by teams looking for playoff births meant only half the games scheduled were played.
Alcoholics Anonymous and Joe Buck Yourself both no showed and have put themselves into races to make it to October. Rough Riders forfeited also, bringing the jackass count to three this week, or at least, two and half. Mr. Party’s Waddle and Flea Bitten Varmits aren’t out of the playoff picture with this development, and any more forfeits could prove disasterous to Joe Buck or the Alcoholics.
Football season has officially started, if you are part of the minority of people on the planet who call the NFL football. Regardless, Clubber Lang skipper and strikeout pacesetter Tony Ragano brought his DirectTV dish and 11 inch television to the field so fans (and players) could enjoy their favorite teams on the gridiron while another anemic week of offense took place on the wiffleball fields.
Ryan Hawkins of the Canvassers tossed a no-hitter, getting the Canvassers to 10 and 0, and one game away from clinching the Eastern Division and their spot in postseason. Clubber Lang’s magic number is also one in the Western Division, after escaping yet another nail biter of a game against, this time against Mr. Party’s Waddle.
