World Series: And One for the Thumb (Su09)

The Canvassers swept Flaglove in the best of three game series to claim their 5th World Series Championship in franchise history. The Canvassers have won five of the nine World Series contests, and appeared in each of the first six played, but have been shut out the last two seasons.

Controversial pre-season moves by the Canvassers from the free agent pool have led some to call for restrictions on the signing of free agents, or a waivers system for the PWL. The regular season ended with the Canvassers at a 13-1 record giving them the top overall seed in the playoffs. Flaglove dealt the Canvassers their only regular season loss during the last week of the season. However, they couldn’t stop the Canvassers from picking up the newly created Commissioner’s Trophy.

The Canvassers scored 13 runs, compared to just 3 for Flaglove, all of which were unearned.
