6 Innings with David Gross

David Gross sits down with us this week for 6 Innings. As the 3rd or 4th man on the dream team, two-time World Champion Canvassers, David was often out of the spotlight. Now, managing his own team, named after his fiesty player and business partner, Mary's Mad Dogs, he's coming into his own. Will his team, that started off to a 4-0 start be able to hold on and make the playoffs? Only time will tell.

TWIF: What is your favorite baseball team and who is your favorite baseball player of all time?
DG: Nats fan now, especially like all the Ryans, but favorite players growing up were guys (watch me date myself) such as Fred Lynn, Dwight Evans, Jim Rice, Mike Greenwell, and others who played outfield for the Red Sox when the Fenway bleachers were filled with 1000 Goodwill Huntings

TWIF: What is your favorite thing about Wiffleball?
DG: Yelling obscenties at the commissioner when there's a jet flying overhead.

TWIF: Have you ever done anything under the bleachers you're not proud of?
DG: I was desperate for some gatorade, it was hot, you promised you wouldn't tell.

TWIF: Who is the player in the league you'd most like to see get hit by a car while chasing a foul ball?
DG: Not going to say as we head into division play.

TWIF: Diving catch, or homer off the pole?
DG: Catch, looks more impressive on the video.

TWIF: You were a fairly consistent player on the two-time world champion Canvassers teams. However, out on your own, away from the shadows of Chris, Stephen and Tony, you have become a stronger player, potentially even and All-Star. How has your motivation and play changed from your perspective now that you are more responsible for the fate of your team?
DG: I beat out a lot of crappy grounders last year knowing Stephen would knock me in if I could get to first. This year, I've got a girl hitting behind me.
