London 2007: Sluggers at Nationals

The second game of pool play in the 2007 London Wiffleball Tournament was a defensive duel through four and a half innings. On the smaller tree field, the key to the game was robbing homers from the other team. The Nationals robbed one more than the Sluggers…the one they needed.

Scoreless through four and half, in the bottom of the final inning Nationals ace Tony Cani looked to continue his clutch home run hitting with a one-out walk-off blast. However, the tree in center field had other ideas and the ball was knocked down for just a single. The next batter, the slumping Ross Duenas saw his bat come alive to hit a two-run shot that the tree had no chance of knocking down.

After that, the bats stayed alive the rest of the day.
